Refunds issued due to impact of the Coronavirus

C. I. Travel Group, whose brands locally include Bontour and FlyDirect, has started the process of issuing cash refunds to their clients whose holidays have been cancelled due to the impact of coronavirus.

Where the Channel Islands tour operator cannot fulfil a booking, due to some or all the package being unable to be realised, they are offering clients the opportunity to amend holidays free of charge or they can accept a full cash refund.

The travel industry has been hit hard as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and C. I. Travel Group is no exception. Managing Director, Robert Mackenzie said “The safety of our customers is at the forefront of everything we do and these unprecedented times have resulted in difficult decisions which may have led to disappointment for those who have had holidays cancelled. As a company, we feel that issuing cash refunds is the right thing to do for our clients making the process simple and easy for them whilst maintaining relationships and trust.”

The longstanding Jersey based Tour Operator has over 40,000 clients travelling with them every year including bringing holiday makers into the Channel Islands with JerseyTravel.com, GuernseyTravel.com and Airways Holidays. Given the volume of bookings having to be managed by the local team, the company initially offered credit refunds until they were in a position to be able to process cash refunds. Mackenzie confirmed, “This has been a challenging time and the team has been working tirelessly. We are pleased to now have reached a stage where we can offer a full cash refund on those bookings where supplier costs have bene returned in full.”

Their team is working through bookings in date order and, although this may take some time, they have confirmed that cash refunds will be processed in a timely manner and that this will be their policy for future bookings affected by the pandemic.

The Managing Director concluded, “We hope this reassurance means that our clients will come back to book with us again, in their own time, when consumer confidence returns. This may be for later this year or even for 2021, which is already on sale for some brands, offering more flexibility and choice.”

The C. I. Travel Group customer services team is working from home and still available to help with any queries between 09:00 – 14:00 Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays.
