Refunds issued due to impact of the Coronavirus
Airways Holidays, part of C. I. Travel Group, has started the process of issuing cash refunds to their agent partners for Channel Islands holidays that have been cancelled due to the impact of coronavirus.
Where the Channel Islands Tour Operator is unable to fulfil a booking due to some or all the package being unable to be realised, they are offering agents the opportunity to amend holidays free of charge or they can accept a full cash refund.
C. I. Travel Group’s Managing Director, Robert Mackenzie said “As a company, we feel that this is the right thing to do for our partners so they are able to refund their clients meaning relationships and trust remain strong in the supplier chain. We know that this is a difficult time for the industry and we want to support agents by making the process as simple and efficient as possible at a time when resources are stretched.”
Given the volume of bookings to manage by the local team, the Tour Operator initially offered credit refunds until they were in a position to be able to process cash refunds. Mackenzie confirmed, “This has been a challenging time and our team has been working tirelessly. We are pleased to have now reached a stage where we can offer a full cash refund on those bookings where we have received supplier costs in full.”
Airways Holidays is working through bookings in date order and, although this may take some time, they have assured partners that their cash refunds will be processed in a timely manner and confirmed that this will be their policy for future bookings affected by the pandemic.
The Managing Director concluded, “We hope this reassurance means that our partners and their clients will come back to book with us again, in their own time, when consumer confidence returns. This may be for later this year or even for 2021 which is already on sale to offer more flexibility and choice.”
